20 years of Impact: Ending Human Trafficking in Nigeria
Welcome to NAPTIP’s 20th Anniversary Celebration!
July 2023 marks a significant milestone for us @ the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) as we celebrate our 20th Anniversary!
Follow us on a journey which spans two decades, where passion, resilience, and unwavering dedication have shaped the fight against human trafficking and violence against persons in Nigeria. As we commemorate our milestone, we celebrate the incredible progress made in implementing the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015 (as re-enacted), the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act, 2015 and the Trafficking in Persons (Control of Activities of Organizations and Centres), Regulations, 2019. We celebrate victory with the over 19,000 victims rescued through the collective efforts of key stakeholders; justice achieved with 619 convicted persons; and commitments of NAPTIP officers in employing strategic approaches that embrace professionalism, inclusivity and gender responsiveness.
For twenty years, NAPTIP has grown from 1 to 32 offices and 13 shelters across the country and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The Agency has been the beacon of hope, the guardian of freedom, and the voice of the voiceless in ensuring people centered access to justice and provision of safe spaces for victims of human trafficking and survivors of gender-based violence. NAPTIP together with its partners have built bridges in transforming lives, and inspiring communities to stand against this heinous crime.
NAPTIP at 20 is not only a testament of Nigeria’s accomplishments but also a reminder of the work that lies ahead. As we look towards the future, we strive for a society where every individual is valued, and protected. As we celebrate two decades of unwavering commitment, let us raise our voices, and scale awareness. Together, we can shape a future where the chains of human trafficking are forever broken, and freedom prevails.
We invite the whole of government and whole of society to continue to join forces with NAPTIP and be a part of the movement that paves the way for a brighter tomorrow for Nigeria and Nigerians.
Join us as we take you through 20 years of triumph.
