INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department of the Agency was created following the approval of the NAPTIP Government Board. The creation of the department in June, 2021, arose out of a renewed commitment to reposition the Agency as an effective and responsive Agency.
2.0 FUNCTIONS OF DEPARTMENT
The Department is responsible for facilitating smooth running of the Agency by performing the following functions:
- Network Infrastructures
- Application, Operations and Training (In house)
- Service Management and Planning
- Forensics Examinations and analysis
- Customer Relation Management
3.0 STRUCTURES OF THE DEPARTMENT
A) NATIONAL MONITORING CENTER
The National Monitoring Centre (NMC) was established in 2004 with support from UNODC/UNICRI in the Programme of Action Against Trafficking in Minors & Young Women from Nigeria into Italy for the purpose of sexual exploitation. This is the Agency’s main IT hub and home to all ICT related matters.
B) FORENSIC LABORATORY
Development in the world has shown how simple it is to acquire all sorts of information through the use of computers. This information can be used for a variety of endeavours and criminal activities However; the most important element of the Nigerian Evidence Act 2011 (as amended) is the introduction of electronic evidence which makes electronic evidence admissible in courts.
NAPTIP as a Law Enforcement Agency is saddled with the task of combating and suppressing the scourge of Trafficking in Persons. The Forensic Laboratory was established to assist in investigation using digital evidence in manner that is legally acceptable in court as provided by the Evidence Act 2011 (as amended).
C) CALL CENTER:
The call centre operates 24/7 toll free call to the general public for the reporting of cases of trafficking in persons, child labour and abuse and violence against persons’ cases. These calls are recorded in the Customer Relation Management (CRM) database which can be retrieved when the need arises.

- NAPTIP i-Reporter (Mobile App) which requires subscription
The Department is headed by an experienced administrator and a certified Forensic Examiner.
